Vovinam (Viet Vo Dao) is a Vietnamese martial arts. It includes a wide range of techniques including punching, kicking and wrestling. It also includes using weapons such as swords, axes, folding fans and staffs.
As to the Yin and Yang theory, there are martial arts that prefer the hard over the soft and others that prefer the soft over the hard. Vovinam Viet Vo Dao does not prefer any over the other. Hard and Soft are used equally.
The founder of Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo is Loc Nguyen. He believed that every Vietnamese child should learn this martial art and thus, he spent his life teaching it to the Vietnamese youth.
The martial art spread to the rest of the world during the Vietnam War, when Vietnamese people emigrated toward countries such as France and Holland.
The most famous technique is the Don Chan (grab the enemy's neck using your legs).
